Atkins School District is located approximately twelve miles east of Russellville just off Interstate 40.
The campuses are all on approximately 60 adjoining acres about five blocks from I-40. The district
offers a rural atmosphere where students and parents are known by the staff. Atkins schools provide
a fundamental yet challenging and expanded curriculum through a variety of delivery methods including
the use of the most recent technology available. Our goal is to produce graduates that have a solid
educational foundation along with a good realization of self-worth and direction that will lead them
to become productive citizens in the community and society.
There are three schools that make up Atkins School District. The elementary school includes kindergarten
through grade four. The enrollment is normally around 350 students at the elementary level. The middle
school is made up of grades five through eight. The typical enrollment in that school is around 325 students.
Atkins High School has about 300 students in grades nine through twelve.
The students at Atkins enjoy facilities that are modern and include many technology features to enhance
learning. The elementary and middle schools share a new 130,000 sq. ft. facility that was just put into
service in the fall of 2010. Some of the features it offers are complete climate control throughout the
facility. SMART technology in most learning spaces, video surveillance, natural lighting, two physical
education gymnasiums and a tornado safe shelter.
All three schools are fully accredited by the Arkansas Department of Education with no violations.
Atkins students usually score above state average and often near the top in the area on state assessments.
High school seniors earn hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of academic scholarships annually.
A high percentage of our students go on to college or vocational schools after graduation.
Many extracurricular opportunities are provided in addition to excellent academic programs. A variety
of athletic teams provide students the opportunity to participate in the Red Devil sports program which is
highly respected in the region. The music department develops student skills to the degree that it is common
for band or choir students to receive scholarships. Students may also choose to join one of the many school
sponsored clubs that are available.
